An Off Day with Ayaka

Welcome to An Off Day series, a series about the inspiration we find when we pause and step away from our routines. We’re capturing how unstructured time can open up space for genuine connection and creativity that supports our mental well-being. For our first episode, we spent a relaxed afternoon with Ayaka in Taipei where she took us to some of her favorite local food spots.

I was in Taipei for work and I ended up at this event. It was a bit crowded, everyone having small talk, enjoying their time. That’s when I met Ayaka. We had a brief conversation but I already felt the energy was right and it makes so much sense to shoot with her.

Our first stop is Kakazan Ice Club, this cozy spot offers a flavorful selection. The bronte pistachio flavor came with sprinkle granules and pistachio sauce on top, the sweet and salty combination just blends perfectly well. Not to mention they have wine flavors too.

Our second stop is Mata Tofu Pudding, silky smooth tofu that is so soft and rich topped with perfectly chewy and subtly sweet boba, what a delightful treat.

Coming to our final stop is Yummy Taiwanese Vermicelli, a small stall owned by a lovely couple who is warm and welcoming. Noodles with garlic soup base was excellent with generous portions, stop by before they sell out in the afternoon.

Ayaka is wearing National Park Tee and Suns Out Denim Jorts.

Ayaka's Taipei Food Recommendation:
Hakuho, coffee shop at day and cocktail bar at night, trendy and cool spot with great music selection.
Numéro Quatre for a nice and relaxed brunch.
Tian Jin Onion Pancake for local breakfast pancake but be ready for a queue.
